The bathing season in the aqua park in Backi Petrovac starts on June 4, and Petroland has prepared even better content for its visitors for this season. As the director of the aqua park, Zuzana Michalikova, says for eKapija, the reconstruction of all the pools, except for the children’s pool, has been completed, and the hospitality facilities have been reconstructed as well. As she adds, a big investment worth around EUR 5 million is planned as well – the construction of an indoor section, which should enable the bathing season to last throughout the year.

The Petroland aqua park opened in 2012. Belgrade is around 115 kilometers away, whereas the distance from Novi Sad is 17 kilometers.

This entertainment oasis, which spreads on eight hectares, so far consists of six pools featuring various effects, more than twenty slides, sports courts, hospitality facilities... Geothermal water at around 46°C, whose spring is around 800 meters deep in the ground, enables the season to last longer – if weather allows for it, from May till September. On the other hand, in summer heat, modern technology secures the cooling of the water.

– We have conducted a big reconstruction of nearly all the pools, put new tiles, providing a new look to the wave pool, the relaxation pool and the wild river. We have also reconstructed the hospitality facilities, which used to be rented until this year, and which we will run ourselves from now on – Michalikova says and adds that more than EUR 70,000 has been invested in these works.

Last season, due to the bad weather, they had around 85,000 visitors, whereas, in the previous years, Petroland was able to attract up to 100,000 people in one season. Our interviewee hopes that the number will be exceeded in 2017.

In the pre-season, which lasts until June 15, the prices are lower than last year. Tickets for adults are RSD 750 on working days and RSD 1,000 on weekends, whereas the tickets for children, students (18-26), pregnant women and persons with special needs are RSD 550 on working days and RSD 750 on weekends.

Petroland is a Slovakian investments, and, as reported earlier, the company Aqua Therm Invest invested EUR 8.5 million in the first phase, before the opening in 2012, alone.

In the next year or two, Michalikova says, they expect the indoor section to be built as well. It will enable the visitors to enjoy the features of Petroland during less warm periods, as was envisaged by the initial project of the aqua park complex. The concrete realization of the project should start soon.

– We expect that the preparation of the structural design of the new section should start this autumn or in late 2017, whereas the works, we hope, should start in spring. The facility will contain a swimming pool of the size of a women’s water polo pool, a wellness section, as well as other features, where thermal water would be used as a healing resource.

Our interviewee says that, once the works start, they might be completed in 6 to 8 months.

– These are experiences of other aqua parks with raising similar facilities. We assume that the works would progress fairly fast. This is a private investment of our owner from Slovakia, and the value is around EUR 5 million – Michalikova says.

Petroland has a relaxation pool, a wave pool, a wild river, a children’s pool and two water slide pools, all of which feature water temperatures of 25 to 32°C, Some of the most interesting slides are Black Hole, 128 meters long, King Slide, 123.5 meters long, and Kamikaza, the tallest one. There are also Twister, Crazy Corn, Tiger, Zebra, Rainbow...

The complex also has three sports courts (football and beach volleyball, as well as grass areas for various sports activities) and a multifunction court featuring artificial grass. Petroland has around 1,500 mattresses.

Free tickets on birthdays

In the pre-season period, which last until June 15, 2017, the aqua park is open from noon till 6 pm on working days and from 10 am till 7 pm on weekends.

In the season, from June 15 on, the prices will be slightly higher. As they say at Petroland, certain advantages will be available to organized groups of 20 and more visitors, as before.

– We are cooperating very well with schools and we have a large number of organized visits by school students – Michalikova says.

Those who visit Petroland on their birthday will get a gratis ticket to the aqua park.
