Government to continue subsidizing employments – Contracts signed with 9 companies in 2017, jobs for 4,000
Knezevic said that the report of the auditing and consulting company Ernst & Young, according to which Serbia is sixth in Europe looking by the number of newly opened job positions arising from direct foreign investments, was another proof that the government's measures were providing great results when it comes to employment.
The minister pointed out that they would continue with their policy of incentives.
– This year alone, agreements with nine big companies have been signed. They plan to invest nearly EUR 60 million in our country and employ more than 4,000 workers – Knezevic said.
He reminded that the aim of such policy was to create an attractive, but also safe, investment environment.
Knezevic said that he expected even better results in 2017 and added that 72 companies which had fulfilled their contract obligations and contracted the employment of 12,383 people had had 39,953 employees in mid-March, an increase by 27,570.
– These are the best possible results, along with a reduced unemployment rate, regarding the support of the Government of Serbia to employment. Not only do our people get jobs this way, our small and medium enterprises are expanding their business, thereby stimulating the competitiveness of our economy – the minister concluded.
