Ministry of Telecommunications took illegal actions - Government of Serbia revoked decision about takeover of "Ratel"
- Government of Serbia revoked the decision of the Ministry of Telecommunications yesterday (June 19, 2008) about takeover of authorizations of the Republic Agency for Telecommunications (Ratel) on 120-day period - said Deputy Prime Minister Božidar Đelić.
He said that the Government had acted as the supervisory organ because it had been concluded that the Ministry had broken the Law, but that did not mean that "Ratel" and other regulatory agencies had worked as they should have. He estimated that the new Government and the new Parliament would have to deal with the issue of authorizations and obligations of the regulatory agencies by changing existing legal regulations.
Ministry of Telecommunications announced on June 13th that it would take over authorizations of "Ratel" because it had not revoked its decision about giving area code number 069 to "Telenor" without public auction.
