City Manager Goran Vesic today visited the location on which the works on paving the access roads to the Ada Bridge are in progress, Beoinfo reports.

Vesic pointed out that a new boulevard was emerging in New Belgrade and that it would enable the distance from Tosin Bunar to Cukarica, more precisely, to the Pozeska Street, to be traveled in only around ten minutes.

– The length of this boulevard is around 2.5 kilometers, of which 1.5 kilometers on the ground, whereas the bridge constructions are 1 kilometer long, which shows how complex and serious the project to be done is. There are four intersections, several entrances and exits, and the sewerage, cable network and water supply systems have been completed – Vesic emphasized.

According to him, this boulevard is a logical completion of the construction of the Ada Bridge, as it is only by having the boulevard completed that the bridge will have been fully finished on the New Belgrade side. The value of the works, Vesic says, amounts to EUR 13.5 million, and the money has been secured through a loan from the European Investment Bank.

– We are looking at works on the other side of the bridge, towards Rakovica, where there's also a project for one such traffic route, which will go through the Patrijarha Pavla Street all the way to the municipality of Rakovica. We are currently solving the ownership relations, and we hope to be able to consider completing all works related to the Ada Bridge next year – the city manager specified.

Vesic confirmed that the works would be completed by late June and that the citizens would be able to use the traffic route.

– The name of the boulevard might be adopted at the session of the City Assembly which is to be held between June 15 and 20. We don't want to decide on it by ourselves, we want to hear what the citizens think as well – Vesic revealed.

Let us remind that the works which the Belgrade Land Development Public Agency is carrying our in cooperation with the Spanish company Rubau were supposed to be completed in May, but that the deadlines were moved, as the remains of the old airport had been discovered during the excavation.
