Manager of Sava Centar still unknown – City of Belgrade moves binding bid submission deadline to April 18
The City of Belgrade has for a long time now been trying to find a private partner, to which 49% of Sava Centar shares would be offered along with the management over the company, but with the obligation to, among other things, fully renovate the facility.
Two bids were sent in the first tender phase, an individual one from Delta Holding and a bid from the consortium of local companies, namely the Nikola Tesla Airport, the Belgrade Fair and Energoprojekt Holding. Both interested parties were given the deadline of March 20 to submit binding bids, which was first extended to April 7 and now to April 18.
In early 2017, it wasn't certain whether Delta Holding would even take part in the second round, as they had estimated that an investment of EUR 25 to 30 million would be needed for the reconstruction. Nevertheless, at no point did they confirm opting out of the takeover bid, that is, setting up professional management.
On the other hand, the Nikola Tesla Airport presented a project planning an extension by 50,000 square meters, including a tower with a hotel and a shopping mall.
The City Institute of Court Expertise evaluated Sava Centar at around EUR 108 million in 2016, most of which, around EUR 80 million, is the value of the facility itself, whereas around EUR 26 is the value of the land and the rest of the amount pertains to the equipment.
