The Greek oil company Hellenic Petroleum will not leave Serbia. Instead, 15 years after the opening of the first local EKO petrol station, it will continue to operate and expand its activities, Grigoris Stergioulis, CEO of Hellenic Petroleum, said for Politika.

– Energy doesn't only mean oil, but also electricity, gas and renewable energy sources. For this reason, we are interested in transforming and producing electricity and gas. The plan is to invest in clean energy, and everything we do as a group will be done in EKO Serbia as well. We have secured money from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for investments in green energy – Stergioulis said.

Vuk Radovic, director of Hellenic Petroleum Serbia, says that there still room for the company to acquire an even better position in Serbia.

– Serbia needs 400,000 tons of diesel.

Hellenic covers around 7% of the market in Serbia, and the intention is to increase the share, Radovic adds.
