Deputy Prime Minister and president of the Committee for submitting proposals for the selection and implementation of the Nikola Tesla Belgrade Airport strategic development model, Zorana Mihajlovic, stated that a total of 27 companies from all over the world had applied to the pre-qualifying contest for the concession of the airport.

– The deadline expired on Friday, March 10, and the application were being inspected by Sunday afternoon. Among the applicants are world-renowned companies from Germany, France, China, Russia, Turkey, Switzerland, but also India, Korea and Greece – Mihajlovic said for Kurir. She estimated that the great interest was the best indication that the Nikola Tesla Airport was sure to maintain its leading position in its part of Europe, her cabinet reported.

– We have decided not to sell the Airport, but to opt for a concession and I now expect that we will get great conditions for both the Nikola Tesla Airport and our country. Given the competition, the Government will not find it easy to pick the best bidder – Mihajlovic, also the Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, stated.

According to Blic, concession bids have been sent by France’s Vinci and Aeroports de Paris, as well as from the Dutch Schiphola. There are also two bids from the Emirates, whose companies have had serious negotiations with the Government representatives and shown great interest.

It was reported earlier that Airports of Regions Russia and Fraport Germany were also interested in the concession.

As Blic learns, what's certain is that the great interest allows the Government of Serbia to achieve the planned goal, that is, to not hand the airport over to the concessionaire for under EUR 350 million.
