Reconstructed Vranjska Banja-Ristovac railway section opens for traffic – Works worth USD 10.5 million
The reconstructed railway is 17.7 kilometers long and the project was financed by the Russian loan for the modernization of Serbian railways.
The reconstruction started on April 18, 2016, the main contractor was the Russian company RZD International, and local companies were subcontractors. The reconstruction has increased the train speed on the railway to 95 km/h.
The opening of the railway was attended by Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic, who said that people were regaining trust in railway transport, as the modernization of railways provided quicker and more comfortable trips.
