Bosch 2016 profit around EUR 4.3 billion – Growth of 2.3% in 2017

Bosch has reported that it had made EBIT of close to EUR 4.3 billion in 2016, according to preliminary data.

As stated, the companies sales grew to EUR 73.1 billion in 2016, i.e. by 3.5%, and the growth of the sales was negatively impacted by foreign exchange rate effects of around EUR 1.3 billion.

In Europe, Bosch's sales grew by 3.4% to EUR 38.6 billion, whereas, in North America, they stayed at the 2015 level of EUR 12.4 billion. In South America, they grew by 2.1%, adjusted for foreign exchange rate, but nominally dropped by 5.7% to EUR 1.3 billion.

In the Asia-Pacific region, including Africa, Bosch's sales grew by 8.1% to EUR 20.8 billion in 2016.

The report says that the Bosch Group, which employs 390,000 associates around the world, increased the number of employees by 15,000 last year, mostly in the Asia-Pacific region and Central and Eastern Europe.


Bosch emphasizes that it also increased its R&D expenses to around EUR 6.6 billion in 2016, and the company also invested around EUR 300 million in the new artificial intelligence center.

The company plans a moderate global growth of 2.3% in 2017.
