Mayor of Sombor Dusanka Golubovic and Romano Rossi, owner and director of footwear factory Progetti, signed an agreement on the sale of a 9.8 ha parcel in the Sombor Industrial Zone on January 16, 2017.

Progetti will build a new factory on the parcel by the end of 2017, as stated on the site of the City of Sombor.

– This is an important investment for us, above all in the sense of investing in infrastructure and construction of facilities to the end of expanding production, which will also enable hiring a larger number of workers. It has been alluded that the owner of the company intends to move its entire production and headquarters to our city in near future. This is very important as a new start of investing in Sombor, which is our priority – Golubovic said.

Rossi thanked the mayor for her involvement and support she had provided in the realization of the project, as well as the administration and public enterprises which had took all the necessary actions so that the agreement could be signed.

– Purchasing the land is the first step towards the further realization of the project and we expect to continue at the same pace at which we have finished all the administrative procedures so far. This will be the most modern footwear factory in Serbia and one of the most modern factories in Europe. We will start working as fast as we can, in cooperation with the mayor and the City Administration, and we expect the factory to be completed by the end of the year – Rossi said.

The signing of the agreement was attended by Ljiljana Jovanovic, consultant and procurator of Progetti, and Goran Milic, member of the City Council in charge of international relations and cooperation with state and provincial authorities.

Representatives of Progetti acquired the land through public bidding, and the price of RSD 1.53 million that they got at the auction was paid before the authorization of the agreement.

It was also said that Progetti had around 1,000 employees in its facilities and that it cooperated with around 20 subcontractors, small factories from Vranje to Subotica, where they employ an additional 1,500 people.
