Record year for Port of Novi Sad – 1,180,000 tons of goods reloaded in 2016
– Looking at the monthly result of reloading, March 2016 will remain a “golden” month with 164,584 tons of reloaded goods – says Aleksandar Milovancev, director of the Port of Novi Sad.
As he said, the results and stable revenues from leasing storage space show that the management and the employees have been doing a good job in the past years. For the sake of comparison, he said, the sea Port of Bar, run by the state of Montenegro, reloaded slightly over 990,000 tons of goods in the nine months of 2016.
Regarding the ownership transformation, Milovancev didn’t wish to say much.
– We have been told that the Port of Novi Sad now needs to be privatized, as Serbia is drawing closer to the EU accession, since there are no state-owned ports there. The Port of Novi Sad’s capital is 99.3% owned by the state. We trust the state to carry out the ownership transformation to the benefit of the company, its employees, the City of Novi Sad and Serbia – Milovancev said.
