RZD International is to start performing works at the Vinarci-Djordjevo section, the last of the three sections of the European railway Corridor 10.

As reported by RZD, in line with the project for the 15 km-long section, the upper and lower structure of the railroad and five switches have been replaced, 11 junctions have been reconstructed, as have been the stations and low platforms, drains have been installed, and the contact network has been repaired.

As on other southern sections of Corridor 10, all the works will be performed in the regime of 36-hour technological close-down periods, not entailing a full cessation of train traffic. A number of works will be performed by Serbian subcontractors.

Following the reconstruction, the maximum speed of passenger trains will increase from 50 km/h to 120 km/h.

It is expected that the reconstruction, which is being carried out in line with the Annex 2.2 to the main Agreement, will be completed in the second quarter of 2017.

Two south sections, Vranjska Banja-Ristovac and Bujanovac-Bukarevac, where the works started in April 2016, will soon be completed.

The value of this project exceeds USD 38 million and it is being realized through the Russian state loan, the report adds.
