The management of the Nis Constantine the Great Airport will prepare a new development strategy for the 2017-2022 period in cooperation with the Regional Development Agency “South” (RDA South). The strategy will clearly define the tasks and the goals the airport needs to achieve in order to have up to 700,000 passengers a year.

The director of the Nis Airport, Vladica Djurdjanovic, expressed his hope that the airport might reach the number of 700,000 passengers in the next five years if the Government of Serbia and the City of Nis as a founder got behind the further development of the Nis Airport, Fly from Nis reports.

According to the director of RDA South, Bojan Avramovic, the airport will surely have over 300,000 passengers next year at the current capacities and without opening new routes, but, as the plan is to continue expanding the airport, the results will certainly get even better.

– That's when the problem of the capacity of the terminal will become acute and we will have to decide whether to develop or remain at the level of 300,000 passengers. The City of Nis is interested in solving this and it is logical that the Regional Development Agency should have interest in investing in the airport. When we complete the study, we will have data showing where investments are needed – Avramovic pointed out.
