Construction of the Surcin-Obrenovac highway to start at the beginning of 2017 – Construction contract awarded to CCCC
The plan envision the construction of a full-profile highway, with two traffic lanes and one emergency lane, as well as a total of 11 bridges and overpasses, along with a 1,800-meter long bridge over the Sava, stated Rade Obradovic, the adviser to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction.
Two large interchanges at Surcin and Obrenovac will also be built on that section.
The contract stipulates that the Chinese participation in the project is 51%, and that of the local companies 49%, said Obradovic and reminded that, during the visit of the Chinese president Xi Jinping to Serbia, the commercial contract was signed which envisions the planning, preparing the project for the building permit and performing the construction works on the Surcin-Obrenovac section in cooperation with the Chinese company CCCC (China Communications Construction Company). This is a daughter company of CBRC, which has built the Pupin Bridge across the Danube, connecting Zemun and Borca.
The value of the construction work, which will be credited by China's Exim Bank, is USD 233.69 million.
Obradovic reminded that the Surcin-Obrenovic section was the only section the construction of which hadn't been agreed on for the span of the future highway from Belgrade to Preljina near Cacak.
- The preliminary design and the spatial plan have already been prepared. The contract stipulates the compliance with the so-called FIDIC Yellow Book standard, according to which the contractor should prepare the documentation for getting the building permit and perform the construction work – Obradovic stated and added that the preliminary design prepared by the Institute of Transportation CIP was the basis for signing the contract.
According to him, the analysis which has been carried out shows that the flow of traffic will increase significantly once the section has been finished and it has been projected that, by 2030, nearly 30,000 cars will be passing the section daily.
