Novi Sad records a budget surplus of over RSD 4 billion – Most of the income comes from the sale of Spens plot
According to the data by the City Administration for Finance, which 021.rs received on the grounds of the Law on Free Access to Information, Novi Sad had an income, in the first five months of 2016, of a little over RSD 10 billion from various sources, and its expenditures were nearly six billion. What increased the budget surplus significantly was the sale of the plot of land for nearly RSD 3.8 billion.
The income from the sale of the plot of land aside, Novi Sad mostly profited from the citizens themselves who regularly paid the property taxes, which increased the budget by over a billion dinars in five months.
Other taxes and incomes in a five-month period rarely exceed 500 million each, and it’s interesting to note that the transfer income of Central Serbia was 0 dinars, whereas in Vojvodina it was around RSD 230 million.
As for the expenditures, around 1.6 billion went to the so-called “fixed assets”, with 972,615,000 dinars being paid in May only. The document received by 021.rs doesn’t state what this money was used for, but according to our information, it was mostly used to pay for the work done on the construction of the Lear factory in the North 4 Work Zone, where most of the annual city budget will go too. To clarify, this investment was estimated at around RSD 4 billion.
