Apple still heading Forbes' TOP 100 list of the most valuable brands
The value of the brand estimated at USD 154.1 billion places the company, founded by visionary Steve Jobs, in a class of its own. This is the main conclusion by the Forbes team who created the list of the 100 most valuable brands in 2016. Nevertheless, even though Apple's position as the head of this elite company remains untouchable, the star status belongs to someone else.
Facebook, the biggest and still the most popular social network on the planet, is unstoppable in its rush towards the very top. It has remained the fastest growing brand for two years in a row, and its value has increased by 44% relative to last year. With its USD 17.4 billion of income, it's now worth USD 52.6 billion.
- Facebook keeps innovating, continually presenting new possibilities of usage and improving functionality – commented New York Times columnist James Stewart.
Analysis of the current list shows that it contains companies from 16 countries, with 19 branches of industry being represented. As expected, America dominates – the list contains 52 USA brands, 11 German ones, 8 Japanese brands and 6 from France. Technological brands are in advantage, though not by much – there's 17 of them in the list, including the top three spots. Financing won 13 positions, headed by American Express, which placed 24th. Car brands secured 12 places, while commercial chains and luxury brands gained eight. Toyota, which placed 6th with an increase in the value of its brand of 11% (USD 42.1 billion) is the champion of the auto industry.
