Start of construction of large wind parks of 480 megawatts is expected later this year, the minister of energy and mining Aleksandar Antic has said today.

At the conference "Do Western Balkans need thermal power plants", Antic said that the government has started procedure of adoption of final secondary legislation related to the construction of large power plants and other documents with respect to renewable energy sources. These documents will, as he added, be quickly adopted, whether in technical mandate of this government, or as one of the first tasks of new government.

- This is not the main issue, it is important that these documents are aligned with local legislation, international institutions, associations and investors – Antic said.

These wind parks should be in the network by the end of 2018, and no later than early 2019.

The minister added deadlines for the construction of large power plants have started.

According to him, Serbia created legal framework for investment in renewable energy sources and in a very short time managed to get 63 megawatts from these sources, mostly from mini hydro and solar power plants, while 10% of these megawatts was produced from wind power, i.e. wind parks.
