Johnson Electric opens plant in Nis - By 2021, investment of EUR 50 m and hires of 2400 people announced

On Saturday, April 16, the plant for production of electric motors, Nis-based, Johnson Electric, opened a new production hall. Ribbon was cut by the Operations Director for Europe at Johnson Electric, Loran Kardon and the mayor of Nis, Zoran Perisic, and the opening ceremony was attended also by Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic.

Thus, as explained in Johnson Electric, the second stage of works on the plant which already has 600 workers, and which implies an investment of EUR 50 m in the next five years and employment of 2,400 workers more by 2021 has started.

Johnson Electric is currently producing 250,000 engines on a monthly basis and after the completion of the second stage, expected production will exceed 5 million engines.

The first contract between Johnson Electric and the Serbian government was signed in late 2013 and comprised an investment of EUR 15 m, , construction of a facility on 10,000 m2 and 1,000 workers until mid-2016.

Johnson Electric currently employs nearly 600 people, two thirds of which are operators in production- employees registered with the National Employment Service in Nis.

Products are made for major automotive manufacturers and brands such as BMW, Renault, Mercedes, etc.
