Leoni of Germany looking at production in Trstenik – 20m euros potential investment
Three foreign companies visited Trstenik on 6 April 2016, one is the German Leoni, a reputed cable maker for the automobile industry.
In talks with the potential investors while visiting an airport site, Mayor Miroslav Aleksić said that if these companies decide to invest, several thousand new jobs could be expected.
“With the help of the benefits offered by the municipality and government, we can expect to see a new production facility in Trstenik”, said Aleksić. “Leoni alone needs another 1,800 staff in Serbia beside their present factory. Another German and an Italian company are seriously interested. This is very important for us, since we know what happened with Prva Petoletka.”
He added that Trstenik offers investors advantages and a large and well educated workforce, as there is a mechanical training centre in the town.
Leoni already has factories in Serbia, in Prokuplje and Doljevac, where they employ almost 4,000 staff. The company`s representatives are interested in building a new production plant with 1,800 workers and are prepared to invest 20m euros.
