"METRO Cash & Carry" opened its 600th distribution center in Syberian city of Novosibirsk

"METRO Cash& Carry", the world trade leader, has opened its 600thdistribution center in the world in Syberian city of Novosibirsk. In that way,it confirmed its leading position on the world market of self-service wholesalecentres. New location is also the 36th wholesale facility in Russiaand it is an important step in quick expansion of the company in that country.

- With this move, we will continue ourinternational expansion and, at the same time, we will show our competence inthe domain of logistics. With locations in 28 countries of Europe, Africa andAsia, we are already the most present international company in this business.In only few days, we will open our first wholesale facility in city of Lahore,in Pakistan - said Thomas M. New distribution center in Novosibirsk is the first location of "METROCash & Carry" in Syberia. The opening that took place more than 3,000 km away from Moscow represents a great challenge as far as logistics is concerned. "METRO Cash & Carry" is the pioneer in that region and it helps in establishment of efficient transportation and retailing structure. Trucks, for example, must be equipped with the up-to-date air conditioning systems in order to keep food cool in summer and warm during winter.
