Hotel accommodation in San Francisco is the most expensive in the world, a survey by Bloomberg has shown.

Last year, an average price of overnight stay in this city grew by whopping 88% - to USD 397.

It is now well ahead of Geneva, which ranks second with the accommodation price of USD 292, followed by Milan (USD 271).

Chuck Pacioni, general manager at the San Francisco Marriott Marquis, says that high prices of overnight stay are mainly a result of the increasing number of both business visits to a growing number of technology companies and young people coming to America as tourists.

- Some of them also want to find a job in Silicon Valley, but instead of staying in a cheap hotel in the suburbs, they choose to rent a room downtown and go sightseeing in the city - B92 cites Pacioni as explaining.
