Cooperation of Serbia and Slovenia in EU funds exploitation

The minister wthout portfolio at the Government of Serbia in charge for EU integrations, Jadranka Joksimovic, has met today in Ljubljana the minister without portfolio of Slovenia in charge for development and European cohesion policy, Alenka Smerkolj, and discussed cooperation of two countries in usage of EU funds.

The cabinet of Joksimovic announced they discussed about “the options of technical support and experience transfer from Slovenia and timely preparation of Serbia as a country-candidate for usage of funds from European cohesion and structural funds which become available with the membership in EU”.

Smerkolj outlined the importance of timely institutional preparation for usage of these kinds of funds since it is multiple higher amount of money compared to the amounts from IPA pre-accession funds used by countries-candidates for membership admission which Serbia is now.


Joksimovic who is also a coordinator for IPA, particpality outlined importance of IPA funds for Serbia.

Ministers agreed on estimation that ability of administration and strengthening of capacity for managing IPA funds are the best preparation of the state for efficient exploitation of bigger cohesion funds after joining EU.
