Memorandum on Construction of Bypass Route Around Novi Sad, with New Danube Bridge, Signed
The signing of the agreement was attended by the mayor of Novi Sad, Milos Vucevic, the state secretary at the Ministry of Construction, Biljana Vuksanovic, as well as representatives of the Embassy of China in Serbia, Liu Kai and Dai Yingcheng.
The construction of the bypass route around Novi Sad, with a bridge on the Danube, is of great importance for that city, because it will unload the traffic system, but also for the entire region, because it links to the Fruska Gora Corridor, the construction of which is to start soon, said the minister of construction, transport and infrastructure of Serbia, Tomislav Momirovic.
Following the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding for the project of construction of the bypass route around Novi Sad at the Government of Serbia, Momirovic said that the project was worth EUR 130 and that it was to be done in cooperation with the Chinese company CRBC and the Corridors of Serbia.
He pointed out that the plan for the bypass route included the construction of a bridge on the Danube, which, the minister emphasizes, is one of the two new bridges to be built in Novi Sad. He reminded that, within the Fruska Gora Corridor, the construction of another bridge near Kovilj was planned.
The director of the Corridors of Serbia, Aleksandar Antic, said that the realization of the project of the construction of the Belgrade-Zrenjanin-Novi Sad highway would also begin by the end of the year.
He points out that the memorandum means that CRBC can start preparing the planning and technical documentation for the project, as well as preliminary designs, but also an environmental impact assessment.
Antic points out that the memorandum is a crucial step toward the realization of the project of the bypass route around Novi Sad.
The mayor of Novi Sad, Milos Vucevic, says that he is convinced that the bypass route around Novi Sad and a new bridge will unload the traffic system in the city and also change the ambience of the city.
The adviser for economic and trade cooperation at the Embassy of China, Liu Kai, pointed out that the project of the bypass route around Novi Sad was of great importance, both for helping unload the traffic system and for the economic development of central and northern Serbia.
