Bank of China will start operating in Serbia on January 20, announced Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic yesterday. He said that the Chinese bank would be covering Greece, Romania, Bulgaria, Albania and all former Yugoslavian states from Belgrade.

– Belgrade is becoming the center in that sense as well, which is great news for us all – Vucic said.

The fifth largest bank in the world, as said earlier, will finance Chinese and Serbian companies making joint ventures in third markets.

The Serbian media earlier reported that the founder of the new bank on the territory of Serbia, Bank of China (Hungary) Ltd, filed a request to the National Bank on Serbia (NBS) on October 19 for acquiring a preliminary authorization for founding a bank in Serbia.
