Serbia and Albania Mutually in AEOS System – Two Countries and Their Companies Becoming Reliable Partners in Customs Procedures
The agreement on the mutual recognition of AEOS authorizations were signed by the state leaders on December 21 in Tirana, and after the group gave the green light, it will be forwarded to the National Assembly of Serbia, where it will be confirmed through a law.
As explained, the Customs Administration of Serbia allocates the AEOS status to business entities which meet special conditions of safety and security, earning the trust of the customs service, which then considers them reliable partners.
In Serbia, there are currently 37 business entities with an AEOS status, and the agreement with Albania enables them to use the privileges earned through the trust of the customs service with the customs organs of Albania as well.
Thanks to the mutuality, business entities from Albania with that status will be able to use the advantages in processes at the Serbian customs organs.
Companies with the AEOS status have accelerated procedures, reduced formalities before customs organs and lower procedural costs.
The mutual recognition of the AEOS status, it is estimated, brings multiple benefits to the business community.
Such companies file documentation with a lower set of data at customs organs, they have priority if they are selected for control, and they can also request the customs control to be done at another place, and not the place proscribed by the customs organ.
