At yesterday’s session, the Government of Serbia adopted the proposition of a budget rebalance for 2021, which envisages an increase of the state’s capital investments from 7.2% to 7.8% of the GDP, and Finance Minister Sinisa Mali says that the rebalance is being adopted thanks to the results being better by EUR 1.5 billion in the first nine months of this year and a higher capital investment spending.

After the government’s session, Mali said that the 2021 budget deficit would therefore amount to 4.9% of the GDP, instead of the planned 6.9%.

– There are two major reasons for adopting a budget rebalance. The first are capital projects, because the rebalance from April envisaged 7.2% of the GDP for capital investments, whereas the new rebalance raises it to 7.8%, so RSD 478 billion from the budget alone will be invested in our economy and big infrastructure projects – Mali said.

The other reason is to continue providing aid to the citizens and working on raising their living standard, Mali added.

– In the rebalance, we have secured enough money to repay the additional EUR 20 of aid that we promised to the citizens for December – Mali said.

The minister of finance of Serbia pointed out that the share of the public debt in 2021 will amount to 58.2% of the GDP.
